Edoardo’s story

Edoardo was born in Rome on April the 23rd 1993. At the age of 20, he had to have his right lower limb amputated due to a misdiagnosed disease. Sport has always been an essential part of his life: for nine years he swam and then played football for another six years.

The amputation was a big blow for Edoardo, but it also gave him a new strength, because before the amputation, the pain caused by the disease was really strong. He has always been determined though, and even in the most critical moments, he was the one who could cheer others up, including his parents.

Now he wants redemption and looks at life with different sight, focusing on small details. The spring that made him react and that introduced him to fencing was Andrea Pellegrini, who believed in him, gave him the right moral charge and made him understand that the prosthesis is just an object. As a good Roma’s football team fan, his idol has always been Francesco Totti.

In the short term, Edoardo aims to improve his results in order to win at least one medal at the Paralympics Games. He came to know about art4sport through Bebe who, according to him, is “The first true example of a force of nature”. He joined the team in October 2018: Association will be able to provide him with the equipment he needs to achieve his sporting goals.
