Maria and a family with no bounds
When a family becomes Family
Maria Clementi is a mother who over the years has fostered children and teenagers, welcoming them as part of her family.
There are many ways to be a mother. And there are many ways of becoming a “son or a daughter”. Not all of us have been or are parents. But all of us, at some point, have been someone’s child.
Maria considers the family a safe place, a source of love, a haven for seeking refuge. Maria knows that not all children can have a place with these characteristics and offering such rights. Not all children can count on a place where they are accepted, where they can cope with the difficulties and obstacles that life brings.
Maria married young and created a family based on her beliefs and values which go beyond a mere sense of belonging. A family is a safe and open place. To start with, Maria welcomed a child, then another and later a third. And so, time went by. Maria tells us many stories of children and teenagers who were her foster children for a short time or a longer period. She guided them, accompanied them, she respected them and their world, with the baggage they carry. Children are welcomed in her family with a great sense of motherhood, albeit she is ready to let them go.
“We always had families and friends around us who supported us. It is not possible to welcome so many children and think you can do it alone.”
Maria’s story is the story of a family with no bounds. A family… no matter what.
