Mirko was born in in Latina on May 20th 2013. On April 9th 2016, Mirko was involved in an accident in his house’s garden which resulted in the amputation of his right leg below the knee. His parents were initially frightened, anxious, powerless and saw Mirko, who had come out of the medically induced coma, as sad and terrified by what was happening to him. Mirko, a little three years old by then, had to face many changes in his life, as his way of moving but above all his relationship with other people: he looked at himself as different from other children.
The word that characterizes him is determination because he managed not only to react but also to make his parents react, as they were initially very anxious and had all their attention focused on him.
