“I’m not stopping in front of nothing”


Sara’s story

Sara was born in San Donà di Piave on December 14th 2004 with agenesis of the right lower limb from below the knee, with malformations of the hands and the infamous cleft lip.

Her parents only discovered their daughter’s physical condition at the time of birth and after an initial moment of dismay, they managed to deal with the situation in a positive way, with great determination and serenity for Sara’s sake.

Having been born with a missing limb, for Sara there was no trauma of loss; for her this is normal! To sum up Sara in one word is impossible. She is sunny, tenacious and stubborn. She wants to constantly challenge herself, to go beyond her disability. For her there are no obstacles and she always finds a way to overcome them.

Sara has been swimming for several years now and has been a member of the ASD Albachiara team for some years. For the last three years she has participated in the Albachiara Trophy held in Caorle in the open sea, competing in the 600 m distance, and improving her performance year after year. Sara swims without a prosthesis.

In 2018, she started high school by applying to a Technical Institute with a focus on fashion systems. Her big dream is to create her own brand, as well as to go and live in New York.

The sportswoman she most admires is Giusy Versace, because she is a good athlete.

Sara’s family found out about art4sport by listening to a spot on the radio, so they immediately searched for information on the Internet, managing to see the 2012 edition of Giochi Senza Barriere (Games without barriers) the association’s main event, and participating with great enthusiasm by Sara in the 2013 GSB edition!

Sara joined the art4sport team in October 2013, during the Family Run, and hopes that the art4sport ONLUS Association can be a great opportunity to get to know other young people with disabilities through sport and to compare notes with them, as well as to become a great swimmer!


Sara’s sports’ achievements

Italian Paralympic Swimming Youth Championships in Verona (June 2021):

  • 50 freestyle class S9 Juniores category: 1° place
  • 100 backstroke class S9 Juniores category: 3° place
