Mayla’s story
Mayla was born in Rome on April 10th 2009. In the fifth month mother Tania’s pregnancy, the amniotic sac broke causing the formation of bridles, which was followed by the amputation of Mayla’s left leg and the birth with the big toe and index finger of the right foot with only the first phalanx present.
Mayla, not having suffered the trauma of losing her limb, lives everything very naturally: she is a sunny, sociable, energetic and vital child. Her birth has positively changed her mother’s life, who has taught her daughter that she simply has something that distinguishes her from others and this difference can be turned into an advantage!
After swimming for a couple of years, Mayla was fascinated by some little girls dancing during an evening performance in a camping. She now practices modern dance, a discipline that reflects her fun, feminine personality, as well as rhythmic gymnastics and hip hop.
She loves cycling and rollerblading and has a great passion for animals! She really admires Simona Atzori and her teacher Valentina. She dreams to become as good as these ladies one day. Mayla’s mother, Tania, ran into art4sport during an internet research when she wanted to find other parents of amputee children to talk to.
Mayla joined the art4sport team in January 2017: the art4sport ONLUS Association will be able to support her both from a prosthetic point of view and by giving her the opportunity to have new experiences, to have fun and to feel good with everyone else!
